The ancient profession of coffee cultivation in the Rijal Almaa Governorate has reemerged as a significant economic activity in the Aseer region of Saudi Arabia. This revival has drawn the attention of local farmers, who have revitalised historic farms known for coffee cultivation and marketing.
According to the Saudi Press agency, Rijal Almaa residents have redeveloped numerous old farms in recent years, incorporating modern cultivation techniques. Currently, the governorate is home to 286 farms with a total of 93,082 coffee trees, including 63,328 fruitful trees that collectively produce approximately 33,216 kilograms of coffee annually.
Rijal Almaa Coffee Cooperative Association organises awareness programs and workshops led by specialised agricultural engineers to train farmers in advanced coffee cultivation methods and enhance the quality of coffee crops. These initiatives aim to improve productivity while preserving the region’s rich agricultural heritage.
the association provides farmers with essential resources, such as fertilisers, equipment, integrated irrigation systems, and traditional farming tools, including shovels, ploughs, and mattocks. This support is part of the association's ongoing efforts to ensure the success of agricultural activities and contribute to the economy of both the governorate and the Kingdom.
These initiatives align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which emphasises the transition from subsistence practices to sustainable development, fostering economic growth across diverse sectors.
