Kerala-based dermocosmetic and nanotechnology company Akore Formulations has received the Platinum Award for Best Innovation at the International Cosmetic Expo & Conference in Chennai for its proprietary Qzome niosomal technology, marking a significant recognition for the company’s work in advanced topical delivery systems.
Founded in 2024, Akore Formulations focuses on developing nanotechnology-enabled skincare and dermocosmetic ingredients by combining pharmaceutical formulation expertise with advanced delivery systems. The company operates under the tagline “Where Technology Touches Skin.”
At the centre of its technology portfolio is Qzome, a proprietary niosomal platform designed to improve the stability, bioavailability and epidermal delivery of active cosmetic ingredients. The technology uses nanometric vesicles formed from non-ionic surfactants and stabilising lipids to encapsulate both fat-soluble and water-soluble actives.
According to the company, Qzome is designed to protect active ingredients from degradation while improving their absorption and enabling controlled delivery. Akore says its technology has demonstrated an increase in skin absorption of up to 4.77-fold in clinical evaluation.
The platform is being developed for applications across dermocosmetics and nutricosmetics, with the company targeting formulations including anti-ageing products, skin-firming treatments and scalp-care solutions. Akore has also developed branded ingredients such as KAEMPNIOS, aimed at applications in skin and hair care.
The company said its differentiation lies not only in its proprietary technology and intellectual property but also in its in-house manufacturing capabilities for niosomal cosmetic ingredients. This, it said, allows Akore to work with cosmetic brands, ingredient developers and research organisations on formulation development and scale-up.

Akore's Qzome platform is positioned as a next-generation vesicular delivery system that seeks to address a key challenge in topical formulations: ensuring that potent bioactive ingredients remain stable while reaching the intended skin layers in an effective and skin-compatible form.
The company describes Qzome as biocompatible, scalable and eco-conscious, with a focus on efficient encapsulation and targeted release of active ingredients. Its approach reflects the growing convergence of nanotechnology, pharmaceutical formulation science and cosmetic innovation, as cosmetic companies increasingly explore advanced delivery platforms to improve product performance.
For Akore, the award comes less than three years after its incorporation and provides recognition for an emerging Indian company seeking to build proprietary nanotechnology capabilities for the global cosmetics and dermocosmetics market.
